Akubra hats have been part of Australia's history since 1918. The company is famous for producing the military slouch hats for both World Wars, and also had the licence to manufacture the American Stetson.

Akubra is a fourth generation Australian owned family business. They manufacture hats for fashion, sun protection and, of course, for Australia’s harsh outback conditions

Akubra hats are famous worldwide with people such as Greg Norman and Bill Clinton wearing them. But perhaps Akubra is most famous for two movies where their hats starred. The Man from Snowy River – Snowy River and Crocodile Dundee – The Croc.

When you order an Akubra, we suggest you go a little larger than your usual hat size as the leather headband inside tends to tighten up. Perspiration and leaving the hat in a hot car will dry out the leather fibres in the band. We will supply you with two pieces of foam that can be tucked in under the band to allow for tightening of the hat. As the hat is made from rabbit fur, you can be assured that the hat will withstand a whole lot of wear and tear and heavy downpours. Rain will not shrink the actual hat; in fact Akubra felts are great for keeping you dry!
